What materials are not suitable for laser cutting?

Laser cutting is suitable for many materials, but there are some materials that are not suitable for laser cutting because they pose a danger to the machine and the operator, or the material itself can be damaged or destroyed by the laser. Here are some materials that are not suitable for laser cutting

PVC (polyvinyl chloride). When heated, PVC releases toxic chlorine gas that can damage the laser machine and cause harm to the operator.

Polycarbonate. This material produces dangerous fumes when cut with a laser that can injure the operator and the machine.

ABS (acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene). When cut with a laser, ABS emits cyanide gas, which can pose a serious health hazard to the operator and damage the laser machine.

Glass fibers. Laser cutting of glass fibers can release particles that can damage the laser lens and contaminate the work area.

Coated carbon fibers. The coating on the carbon fiber can emit harmful gases and damage the laser machine.

Partially reflective materials. The laser beam can reflect off of reflective surfaces, causing damage to the machine and posing a hazard to the operator.
